Nothing written since my last post-- a combination of too much real life going on and the stories just not doing the things that I want.
Kay Ryan had something nice to say about being blocked, though, in "Bad Day" from The Best of It.
Not every day
is a good day
for the elfin tailor.
Some days
the stolen cloth
reveals what it
was made for:
a handsome weskit
or the jerkin
or an elfin sailor.
Other days
the tailor
sees a jacket
in his mind
and sets about
to find the fabric.
But some days
neither the idea
nor the material
presents itself;
and these are
the hard days
for the tailor elf.

Day 3
2728 words.
On a new story. Oy.
Not a long drawn-out WIP, thank goodness, but still. I can't keep these plot bunnies from spawning, which is kind of annoying, but my friend D was/is feeling blue about something and in conversations an idea sprang up and so-- I'll probably finish it today and can send it to her. Goodness knows if it'll ever see the light of day except between us and a few other friends, but at least I am writing.

Word Count, day 2
WIP 1 is a modern day romance, a continuation of a novel I completed last year, and flavored with the "Now that they're finally happy, let's have external forces try to tear them apart!" I wrote 1316 words last night.
WIP 2 is an octopus. No, a Cthulu. 80 pages, not double-spaced, and 2 plus years old. Sci-fi, hopelessly tangled, and I've got and taken out half the cliches in the periodic table of storytelling from the Hero's Journey thrown in there at one point. But rather than pain myself with editing, today I opened a new doc and wrote a scene with between the main character and OC I've been meaning to write for a while and just never got to, one that takes the main character in an independent direction and away from all the romantic entanglement drama, and yay, it's 3416 words!

What this blog is about...
This is mostly a venting blog for my writing (fiction, non-, and poetry) exploits. Expect some technical, meta, and occasional excerpt exploit ruminations here. I'm currently (June 2011) participating in BuNoWriMo, and trying to get myself back in the habit of writing on a regular basis, writing for at least an hour a day. I'm not going to commit to finishing anything in particular, but I am going to work on my WIPs.
